2009 LIMITED SPORTSMAN TECHNICAL RULES
(FORMERLY SUPER STREET)
**Rules new for 2009 will be
highlighted in Blue.
**Please Note That Rule Changes Or Corrections, during
the season Will Be In Red
This division is open to any American manufactured automobile. NO convertibles,
station wagons or trucks.
WEIGHT:
A. 2800lb with driver, 3 Link rear suspension
B. 2900lb with driver, 4 link rear suspension.
C. 604 crate engine deduct 150lb. from any of above
combinations.
D. 602 crate engine deduct 300lb. from any of above
combinations.
E. Oversized valves add 50lbs.
F. All cars must have weight posted on right side of roof.
G.All GM crate engines must have factory GM seals or
GM/RM seals, or Crate USA seals.
ENGINE:
A. ONLY standard factory street production V-8 or V-6 engines allowed. 362
cubic inches maximum on small blocks and must utilize stock bore and stroke
combinations. 374 cubic inches maximum on Chrysler. Unlimited cubic inches on
large blocks must remain stock bore and stroke, .060ths maximum overbore.
B. Blocks may be surfaced, and pistons may not exceed top of block more than
.010ths measured without head gasket. Ford and Chryslers may run dome pistons
when using stock factory production cylinder heads with stock size valves ONLY
when using World heads must use 2 valve relief flat top pistons ONLY.
C. All crankshafts must be factory steel or cast iron crankshafts with casting
numbers plainly visible. OEM replacement eagle or scat crankshaft, NO knife
edging or excessive lightening
48 lbs minimum weight. All cranks must remain
stock stroke to make and model of engine. Example, 350 Chevrolet 3.48 stroke
D. Engine balancing permitted.
E. Timing chains ONLY, no belt or gear drives.
F. NO dry sump oiling systems permitted. Single stage external oil pump
allowed, must pick up and return oil from oil pan NOT an external tank.
CONNECTING RODS:
A. Any sportsman steel connecting rod allowed. MUST remain stock length,
Example 350 Chevrolet must be 5.7 long. 6 rods are NOT permitted. Eagle H-beam
rod permitted, NO other H-beams allowed
B. NO titanium, aluminum, or any other exotic material permitted.
PISTONS:
A. Flat top 2 or 4 valve relief pistons ONLY. Ford must use these pistons when
using the World Product Windsor Sr. heads. Ford and Chrysler may use dome
piston when using stock factory production heads, with stock size valves ONLY.
CAMSHAFT:
A. Any flat tappet camshaft permitted. NO roller camshafts permitted.
B. Lifters must remain stock diameter, Example, Chevrolet .842
CYLINDER HEADS:
A. Any factory production steel head allowed. 062 or 906 GM Vortec
Heads allowed, Intake
runner 175cc max. exhaust runner 64cc max. World
products 4360 & 4361, and Windsor SR. heads
permitted. NO angle plug heads except Ford & Chrysler NO Bowtie, Dart, SVO
N series, or aluminum heads (except 604 crate motors.)
B. Chevrolet's 1.94 maximum diameter on intake valves and 1.5 maximum
diameter on exhaust. Ford Windsor Sr. OK Oversized valves add 50lb. All other
makes must use stock sized.
C. NO porting, polishing, squaring, or epoxying of
ports.
D. Multi-angled valve jobs permitted. Angle milling permitted.
E. Any valve retainer, and any spring permitted.
F. NO shaft mounted rocker systems permitted. All others permitted.
INTAKE:
A. Aluminum or cast iron intakes allowed.
B. NO porting, polishing, squaring, or expoxying
inside runners or plenum.
C. 1 spacer allowed between intake and carburetor. 602 crate engine may
run 2 spacer.
CARBURETOR:
A.One dual line Holley 750 cfm
maximum. Or EAMS spec carb. Ok. Carbs
checked with no-go gauges. No porting or polishing of venturies,
boosters or throttle bores.
B. Air horn may be removed, if not choke butterfly must be removed.
C. May drill idle holes in primary butterflies.
D. No gold claw, silver claw, or demon carbs.
E. Crate motors may use Holley 650cfm, down-leg 3/8 ID boosters allowed. EAMS annular booster spec carb.
Ok. Checked with go-nogo gauges.
FUEL SYSTEM:
A. Stock type fuel pumps ONLY mounted in stock location. NO belt driven or
electric pumps permitted.
B. NO ALCOHOL, NO NITROUS OXIDE, GAS ONLY.
IGNITION SYSTEM:
A. Any type electronic or breaker type ignition system permitted.
B. NO magnetos
EXHAUST SYSTEM:
A. Collector type headers ONLY. NO zoomies or Tri-Y
headers.
ENGINE POSITION:
A. 1 from center of jack bolt to #1 spark plug, NO Tolerance.
TRANSMISSION:
A. Standard 4 speed or automatic transmission. After market SAFETY bell housing
and automatic cases permitted.
B. NO Tex, Jerico, or quick change transmissions.
C. Transmissions must have 2 working forward and a reverse gear.
D. Bert or Brinn Transmission OK.
CLUTCH:
A. Multi-disc clutch assembly $600 cost limit. No aluminum flywheels.
B. All cars must have a workable clutch.
FRAME:
A. 104 wheelbase minimum, 1 tolerance.
B. Uni-body chassis may be connected
.
C. Frame and body do not have to be same make and model. Engine interchange
permitted.
D. Frame must be stock from front clip and have a minimum of 2 x 2, or 1 1/2x .090 Round steel
tubing from end of original front sub clip to rear bumper. Must use stock lower control arms mounted in
stock locations.
FRONT SUSPENSION:
A. Jack screws permitted.
B. Tubular upper control arms permitted.
C. 5 coil springs minimum mounted in stock location.
D. Racing shocks permitted. No single adjustable or double adjustable shocks. 1 shock per wheel only front and rear suspension.
E. NO rack & pinion steering allowed. Stock type steering
systems ONLY.
F. Safety spindles permitted. ½ wheel studs minimum 1 lug nuts mandatory.
REAR SUSPENSION:
A. Jack screws permitted.
B. Stock type, or Quick Change rear ends permitted.
C. Torque links or rubber snubber bar OK, 24 maximum
length mount to mount, 5th coils or
lift bars OK, must
be one or the other, not both.
D. Any type trailing arms or leaf springs.
E. Safety spindles permitted. ½ wheel studs minimum 1 lug nuts mandatory.
BODY:
A. Aluminum or fiberglass bodies allowed. All bodies must have stock appearing
nose pieces. NO wedge bodies.
B. 76" maximum width front to rear. Quarter
panels must be 45" long maximum with a maximum height of 37".
C. Light tube bracing behind bumpers. NO pipes, or
push bars in front of bumpers.
D. 72" maximum width of spoiler, 8" maximum height, 8" maximum
width on side pods.
E. Crate motor 10" spoiler permitted, 10
maximum height, 18 maximum width on spoiler supports.
F. Must have front and rear tow hooks.
WHEELS AND TIRES:
A. Any Wheel, 12 maximum width.
B. Bead locks allowed on right rear ONLY.
C. Wide 5 wheels and adapters permitted.
D. Track tire Spec/crate D21 or spec/crate D55
Hoosier Racing Tires only.
E. No inner liners.
F. No tire softeners permitted. Tires will be subject to durometer
hardness test at any time to determine legality.
SAFETY:
A. All cars must meet the safety requirements as outlined in Section D of
General Track Rules for all Divisions.
PROTEST
A. Top End $250 - $50 will be retained by track.
B. Bottom End $250 - $50 will be retained by track.
C. Must protest Top End to protest Bottom End.
D. Visual protest $25 - $25 will be retained by track.
E. Crate motors may be protested.
Full Jig Limited Sportsman
Beginning in 2009 Full Jig
Frames may begin competing in the Limited Sportsman Division on a weekly basis,
under the below engine and chassis package ONLY.
WEIGHT:
A. 2600lb with Driver.
B. All cars must have weight posted on right side of roof.
ENGINE:
A. ONLY standard factory 602 GM sealed Crate Engines, Engines must have
original seals or GM/RM seal bolts, or Crate USA seals to be eligible for compettion. Engines must comply to
GM build and rebuild specifications. Any
tampering above the seal bolts will result in a 30 day suspension from
EAMS. Any Tampering inside the sealing
system will result in a 1 year suspension from EAMS, and engine will be
confiscated.
CARBURETOR:
A.One dual line Holley 650 CFM maximum. Holley HP
80541 ONLY, NO aftermarket makes or parts, Must have
all Holley numbering system, or EAMS Spec circle track 650.
B. 1 Carburetor Spacer ONLY,
allowed with this chassis package.
B. No Porting or Polishing of
Carburetor, Checked with GO-NO GO gauges.
FUEL SYSTEM:
A. Stock type fuel pumps ONLY mounted in stock location. NO belt driven or
electric pumps permitted.
B. NO ALCOHOL, NO NITROUS OXIDE, GAS ONLY.
C. Sunnoco purple or Sunnoco
GT98 unleaded only. Fuel must check + or -5 on electric fuel checker when
calibrated with EAMS track racing fuel.
D. Fuel that is burned at track must be bought at track.
IGNITION SYSTEM:
A. Stock type HEI distributor that comes with 602 ONLY. No aftermarket modules, or coils, or
distributor housings.
B. NO magnetos, NO 6AL or 6A type ignition boxes.
EXHAUST SYSTEM:
A. Collector type headers ONLY. NO zoomies or Tri-Y
headers.
ENGINE POSITION:
A. 6 ½ from center of ball joint to #1 spark plug, ½ tolerance. 50lb weight penalty for every ½ out of
tolerance mounted in front of water pump.
TRANSMISSION:
A. Standard 4 speed or automatic transmission. After market SAFETY bell housing
and automatic cases permitted.
B. Bert or Brinn Transmission OK.
C. Transmissions must have 2 working forward and a reverse gear.
D. NO Tex, Jerico, or quick change
transmissions.
REAR END:
A. Standard quick change rear end
permitted. No Titanium or exotic
material axles, spools, gears, or other materials inside rear end.
FRAME:
A. 103 wheelbase minimum, 1 tolerance.
- Any
Late Model Chassis allowed, Square tube or Round tube. NO aluminum frames
or front clips on chassis, square tube frames must be a minimum of 2x 2
tubing, round tube must be a minimum of 1 Ύ tubing. Full racing roll cage mandatory, 1 ½ OD x
.090 steel tubing minimum. No chrome moly
tubing.
- One
working shock per wheel. NO Single adjustable, or
double adjustable shocks allowed. NO canister style or remote adjustable
shocks permitted. NO externally adjustable shocks.
- May
run 1 of the following rear suspensions, 5th coil or torque link, NOT
both. 1 90/10 shocks allowed to be mounted top of
rear end.
BODY:
A. S.A.S.. World of Outlaw, Crate Racin USA, Fastrak, or NLMS Body rules
apply.
